Sixteen squares, forty players, one at a time. Every card you waste is a card you don't get back.
2-8 players
Football Bingo deals everyone the same 4x4 board of football categories, clubs, countries, honours, leagues and eras, and the same deck of forty players, in the same order.
One player is dealt at a time. Put them on a square they match and it is yours for good. Or play a wildcard to fill every open square they match. Get a placement wrong and the card is gone anyway.
Fill all sixteen squares to win outright. If the deck runs out first, the fullest board takes it.
How to play
- Everyone gets the same 4x4 board of categories and the same deck of forty players.
- A player is dealt to the whole lobby. Pick one square they match, or use a wildcard to fill every open square they match.
- A match claims that square permanently. A miss spends the card and counts against you.
- Once everyone has played the card, or the clock runs out, the next player comes on.
- First to fill all sixteen squares wins. If the deck runs out, the fullest board wins. Equal boards are a draw.
Frequently asked questions
Can a board become impossible to finish?
No. Every board is checked exhaustively before it is ever dealt: we test all 65,536 combinations of squares against the deck to prove a full solution exists, and only ship boards with a margin on top. Each board carries a guaranteed number of cards you can waste and still complete it.
What happens if I place a player on the wrong square?
The square flashes red and stays open, but the card is spent, you do not get another try with that player. That is the whole tension of the game.
What does the wildcard do?
Once per game, it fills every open square on your board that the dealt player matches, all at once. If they match three categories, you get all three. The card is still spent either way.
Do both players get the same board?
Yes. Same sixteen categories, same forty players, same order. The only difference is where each of you puts them.
